Black Bear Hunting Basic Equipment Needed for the Hunt

*** Don’t forget your Passport and Identification (Driver’s License)***

• Hunting license Camouflage clothing (Hat, Gloves, Facemask, Shirt and Pants)

• Hunter Orange vest or jacket is required

• Bug suit or at a minimum bug headnet (capable of stopping no see ums)

• Rain gear Rubber or waterproof boots

• Weapon and ammunition options: (A transport case is required for all weapons) (Make sure firearms are properly locked)

• Shotgun 10, 12, 16 or 20-gauge with slugs

• Bow with minimum 40 lb. draw and 7/8” cutting diameter broadheads

• Rifle equal to or greater than .243 Black powder equal to or greater than .45 caliber

• Crossbows with a torque of at least 120 lb and bolt at least 16” (Don’t forget your License to Carry (LTC) if bringing a firearm)

If checking a firearm in at the Border, the fee is $25.00 along with your registration form. They will inspect your firearm before you can continue. Keep the firearm easily accessible.
